Here are just a few "myths" for example:
"If it hurts very badly then I should restrict my activity so that it doesn't get worse"
"New pain is the same as new injury"
"I can't be functional if I still have pain"
"Waiting and resting will make it get better"
"Pain that lingers and is severe must always have a medical fix"
"Severe pain always means something is terribly wrong with my body"
"What do you expect? It's normal to have pain as you get older"
"Most people with chronic pain have objective medical findings that explain their pain"
"Degeneration of the spine (arthritis) and bulging discs always cause severe chronic pain"
"If your scans are mostly normal then the problem must be all in your head!"
"You cannot become addicted to medications if they are prescribed by a doctor"
Each of your key team members at CPS believes that a proper education about chronic pain is the cornerstone for effective pain rehabilitation. This educational process begins at the very start, at your initial evaluation, and continues throughout your time in treatment at Creative Pain Solutions and beyond.

EMPHASIS ON EDUCATION
As creatures of habit, we develop enduring behavioral patterns and cognitive habits or attitudes ( "we know what we know") . Whether we think of this as lifestyle or "personality" these habits serve us for a lifetime, for better or worse. When it comes to our health in general, and beating the vicious cycle of chronic pain syndrome specifically, a lot of what people do and assume is true turns out not to be the case.
